Amy Tan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (Honours) from the University of Sheffield, graduating in 2006. Following this, she completed the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) at the Inns of Court School of Law, City University in London, and was admitted to the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 2007.

Commencing her legal career with Messrs Jeff Leong Poon & Wong, Ms Amy was called to the Bar in 2009. She subsequently transitioned to TH Liew & Partners, initially focusing on litigation before shifting her expertise to corporate law in 2010, where she has excelled ever since.

Ms Amy’s proficiency lies in managing diverse corporate exercises, guiding listed companies through foreign and local stock exchanges in various transactions including listings, rights issues, private placements, and acquisitions. Beyond transactional support, she offers strategic legal counsel to management teams and boards of directors, ensuring the legality and commercial viability of decisions while mitigating future risks.

Acting as a trusted advisor to retainer clients, Ms Amy handles day-to-day legal matters, effectively serving as an in-house counsel. She collaborates with company decision-makers, devising policies, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Ms Amy’s expertise extends to both domestic and cross-border transactions, encompassing acquisitions, joint ventures, and foreign investments, with a notable portfolio in facilitating business ventures in Malaysia and overseas. Notably, she played a pivotal role in advising on power plant purchases in Indonesia, demonstrating her proficiency in negotiating complex legal and commercial aspects of transactions.

In addition to her legal acumen, Ms Amy brings a creative approach to problem-solving, providing innovative solutions tailored to her clients’ unique needs. Fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, and Malay, she navigates seamlessly across diverse cultural and linguistic landscapes, enhancing her ability to serve a global clientele effectively.

Ms Amy is currently a partner in Loh Poh Seng & Co heading up the corporate department.
